Biographical Sketch

Ruth N. Latshaw was born in Carlisle, Indiana in 1899. She earned an AB from DePauw in 1920 and a Master's degree in Library Science from University of Illinois in 1928.

She was a librarian for forty years -- most of that time spent at Princeton University Library. After retirement, she lived at Asbury Towers in Greencastle and served as volunteer librarian. She died in 1989.

Ruth N. Latshaw's master's thesis, A Comparative Study of Some Rules for the Alphabetical Arrangement of Entries in Library Catalogs, Z695.95.L38 1928. Other items are located in the DePauw Archives DC 2043: two U.S. land office certificates (items 34 and 36), Daughters of the American Revolution Certificate (item 35), physicians license (item 37), marriage license (item 38), and Latshaw's DePauw diploma (item 78). A 50th Anniversary Alumni Award is located in Archives museum object box, DC 1983.
