Historical Sketch
In 1856 a group met at Tobinsport to form a Methodist church. A log cabin served as a meeting place until 1876 when a church home with erected. This little white church was called Turner's Chapel. In 1929 Clayton Harris, a friend and non-member of the church, died and left the church $4000 plus $500 for upkeep of the cemetery. A brick building was built in 1933 and named the Clayton Harris Memorial Methodist Church. Many improvements have been made since that time. The church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in 2023.
