Historical Sketch

Wayside United Methodist Church was founded in 1968 as a result of the closing of three congregations: Fairview Park, Centenary (also called Atherton)and Center Methodist Churches. Saint Bernice United Methodist (formerly Evangelical United Brethren) closed a few years later and their property and congregation was transferred to Wayside. A new building was constructed for Wayside in 1972. Fairview Park was founded in 1907, Centenary in 1867 and Center in about 1837. Saint Bernice was founded in 1851.
