Historical Sketch

In the early 1820's a small class of Methodists organized northwest of Edinburgh on Sugar Creek. Services were held in homes. In 1828 they moved to Edinburgh, a settlement of three houses, and met in the home of William Hunt. A church building was erected in 1833 and was used by all denominations. The Methodists increased rapidly and built their own building in 1849. The need for more space led to erecting two buildings, one for worship and the other for Sunday School classes and other departments. These buildings were dedicated in 1870 and 1872. They have been remodeled and updated many times since then.
