Scope and Contents

The exhibit on James Riley Weaver was created in the summer of 2018 to highlight his life including his youth, service in the Union cavalry, post-war career in the foreign service and teaching creer at DePauw University. It was based on his Civil War diary, published by Kent State Uiversity Press in February 2019. The exhibit was available in the Roy O. West Library main floor exhibit cases from September 7, 2018 through July 19, 2019.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection consists of four series. The first contains syllabuses by Colonel Weaver, biographical articles, letters, photographs, a register of books borrowed from Political Science Library with borrowers' names, and clippings. The second consists ony of his Civil War diary. The Civil War diary has been scanned and a digital facsimile is available in its entirety on Flickr and in the DePauw Digital Library.
