Biographical Note
The Rev. John Helvey Bruce was born in Montgomery county, Virginia, February 2, 1817. At the age of fifteen he sought and obtained religion, and joined the Church at a camp meeting held at Spring Creek, under the supervision of Rev. Levi White. Soon after this he received license to exhort; and on the 13th of June, 1835, he was licensed to preach by the quarterly meeting conference of Sidney circuit, Ohio conference. He passed away August 23, 1854.
