Collection Statement

From the Collection:

Scrapbook contains photographs, printed items, notes and letters from her time at DePauw University as a freshman and sophomore. The photographs depict her friends, a blimp, Delta Zeta sisters engaged in house cleaning and a page on Raymond Neal titled "Him!" Other items include receipts, certificates, and programs for Old Gold Day, Little Theater, Founders and Benefactors Day and her Delta Zeta initiation. Some printed items include the Student Handbook, 1918-1919, Rules of Committee of Administration and Organization of Dining Room and Halls of Residence, Woman's Hall and Rector Hall, Phi Delta Phi invitation to membership, and Honor System Constitution. A card that she was issued and possiblly filled out for gym class, included her measurements and strength ratings for two years. There were also letters from Private Ralph Crowder, March 25, 1918 from overseas and a Delta Zeta sister as well as a telegram from Raymond Neal to Genevieve following the Michigan State University football game. There is a recipe written as a poem in longhand and several items kept from the time of her wedding in July 1919 such as Hotel Lincoln Coffeeshop in Indianapolis, Morrison Hotel (Chicago) postcards where she and Raymond honeymooned, Chicago White Sox score card, tickets and photographs. She kept a brochure for Universal brand small kitchen appliances and corsages from her Delta Zeta initiation and the Women's Self Government Association program. She also kept a newspaper article on the Washington and Jefferson football team that Raymond Neal played on, 1921-1922. It was this team that played to a 0-0 tie against the University of California in the 1922 Rose Bowl.
