Glass Negative and Transparency collection

 Collection
Identifier: ACA-0014-020

Collection Statement

Four containers of glass negatives and transparencies (lantern slides), ca. 1895-1955, made by various photographers, personal and professional. These have been kept together because of their medium - glass. Some of the negatives are copies of existing photographic prints (positives). The transparencies are positive images meant to be viewed with a lantern slide projector. Subjects of the images include portraits, DePauw scenes and historic Methodist sites. A narration to accompany the Methodist transparencies is included. A few of the items are damaged and have been repaired. All are fragile and should be handled with care. They are divided into two series: Series 1, 4x5 inch and smaller glass negatives and transparencies and Series 2, items larger than 4x5 inches up to 5x7 inches in size. Sub-Series exist for both series.
