Historical Note
The library at DePauw University began with the government documents collection and the James Whitcomb library. Both collections were housed in the Edifice where the diasterous fire of February 12, 1879 destroyed a good part of the collection. The library remained in the reconstructed West College until the construction of the Carnegie Libary building in 1908.
