William Anderson papers
Collection Statement
The materials in the collection belonged to relatives (grandson in particular), of Daniel Anderson. Since Daniel Anderson was a Methodist circuit rider in the Northwest Conference in Greencastle, 1825-26, they have been placed in the Methodist collection. The collection consists of Civil War letters from William T. Anderson to various people; Post Civil War letters from E.A.R. Thomas; misc. Civil War letters; other letters and a poem by Artie S. Anderson.

Biographical Sketch
Lieut. William T. Anderson was born in Owen Co., Indiana 10/5/1840, son of Vincent Anderson and the grandson of Rev. Daniel Anderson, a Pioneer Circuit Rider of Indiana. Rev. Anderson, a Methodist preacher, located in Martin Co., IN in 1813 and later settled in Owen Co. on government land. For 46 years he was a traveling preacher, his circuit covering Owen, Clay and other counties in this section of the state.
