Collection contains statistical studies of the church in northern Indiana. It includes studies of abandoned churches, large-membership churches, membership and loss of membership in the United Methodist Church in the North Indiana and Northwest Indiana conferences.

Biographical Sketch
William Darrell Archibald was born in Illinois on May 2, 1895 to Hugh and Margaret (Morris) Archibald. He received degrees from Union Academy in 1919, Union College in 1922, Northwestern in 1927 and Garrett Biblical Institute in 1927. He married Laura Anne Lee 6/22/1924 and they adopted a son, James Hugh, in 1940. Laura died 4/24/1984. Rev. Archibald served in North and Northwest Indiana Conference from 1927 to 1960. He worked more than 30 years on church history into mid-1980s with historical data, church information; in 1969 edition of "Who’s Who in the Methodist Church." He served on the North Indiana Conference Commission on Archives and History and the Joint Archives Committee. Rev. Archibald died on February 1, 1995 in Frankfort, Ind.
