Biographical Sketch

Professor George Manhart joined DePauw as a history instructor; he was promoted to assistant professor in 1920. In 1947-1948, he served as the acting dean of DePauw, and in 1953, chair of the History department. He is known for authoring the two-volume set DePauw through the Years, published in 1963.
