Historical Sketch

Sigma Chi is the largest and one of the oldest college Greek-letter secret and social fraternities in North America. Sigma Chi was founded on June 28, 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio when members split from Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Sigma Chi is a part of the Miami Triad, along with Beta Theta Pi and Phi Delta Theta. In 1859, the Xi chapter of Sigma Chi was established at DePauw University and is one of the original twelve chapters of Sigma Chi chartered before the start of the Civil War.

Sigma Chi's colors are Blue and Old Gold. Their flower is the White Rose.
