Historical Sketch
The athletic rivalry between DePauw and Wabash dates back to the 1860s in baseball. The first football game between the two colleges occurred in 1890. The awarding of the Monon Bell to the winner of the football game began with its donation to the two schools by the Monon Railroad in 1932.
