Eutha Kopp Nutting photograph album
Collection Statement
Eutha Kopp Nutting's photograph album contains photographs she made as a student from 1912-1916. It also contains some photos she clipped from publications of the time depicting DePauw events such as theater, sports and May Day activities. Miss Kopp's photos show her roommate, Vera Ricker, friends, and classmates on and around campus. Many of the scenes include candid interior views of her room and her friends' rooms in Woman's Hall (Florence Hall) while the girls were involved in studying and primping and general "horsing around." Other activities include: getting a Christmas tree, posing around the tree with one student dressed as Santa Claus, cooking hotdogs around a campfire, sitting in a wagon ready for an outing, May Day activites including eleaborate dances and the traditional may pole, a bonfire, a football game, visits to Eel River Falls, the observatory, Forest Hill Cemetery, Big Walnut Creek, Vandalia train station with a locomotive, a parade in downtown Greencastle and a pair of girls on a motorcycle. Also incuded are campus street scenes, the sun dial on the north side of East College, the dining room in Woman's Hall, the bookstore on the west side of College Avenue at Seminary Street, President Grose holding a football on the steps of the First National Bank and groundbreaking for Bowman gym. Several commerically made photo postcards by Inbody are included in the album that depict campus buildings and scenes such as the May Day breakfast.
