Quayle Quarterly and Doonesbury Cartoons
Collection Statement
The Quayle Quarterly magazines were collected by Robert and Ellen Sedlack of Greencastle. Robert Sedlack is a professor emeritus of English and his wife, Ellen, was director of the Putnam County Public Library. The Sedlacks also collected Doonesbury cartoons that were directed at vice-president J. Danforth Quayle (DePauw 1969) and these were included in the file. Also included is an AP story from 1991 that deals with an issue mentioned in the 1988 presidential campaign concerning Vice-President Quayle that ran in several Doonesbury cartoons.

Historical Sketch
The Quayle Quarterly was published from 1990 to 1991 as a satrical publication devoted to making fun of Vice-President, James Danforth Quayle. The Doonesbury cartoon strip started in 1970 and featured an array of characters including politicians and is written from a liberal viewpoint.
