Class of 1882 photograph album

 Collection
Identifier: MSD-1882-023

Collection Statement

The photograph album was probably made for an alumnus or was made for students of the class of 1882 and available from a local bookstore. No ownership marks are present in the album. The album consists of cabinet card sized photographs without the cardboard backing, pasted into the album, one per page. The subjects include two campus buildings, President Andrus, several faculty members and many students of the class of 1882. Most of the students names are identified and sometimes also their hometowns. It appears that the names are the students' own signatures that the album maker printed for inclusion under each photograph. Included among the class photographs is Winthrop E. Scarritt, who gave the bronze owl statue and fountain in memory of his younger brother, Edward, class of 1884.
