Historical Sketch

The DePauw Trap and Skeet Club was started by student, Jacob Weiner, in 2012 (class of 2014). Initially, it met at a sporting clays and shooting range in Terre Haute. The first adviser to the Club was Brien E. Holsapple. In 2013 organizers arranged for it to meet at the Cloverdale Conservation Club on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In October 2014, Wes Wilson became the new faculty adviser to the DePauw Club. The Cloverdale Club provides their range to the DePauw Club and space in its clubhouse for the DePauw Club's safe which contains DePauw Club owned guns as well as personal guns of individual DePauw Club members. When new members come to shoot for the first time, faculty adviser, Wes Wilson, gives them a safety briefing and the new member signs a waiver form. New members are then given instruction on safe gun handling and clay shooting techniques at the firing line by officers of the DePauw Club. Occasionally, the DePauw Trap and Skeet Club holds hunts, special shooting events at the Terre Haute facility and enters in intercollegiate competition. Club officers in 2014-2015 were: President, John Wedding (first semester) and Shea Lewis (second semester); Vice-President, Doug Tipsword; Treasurer, John Jessup.
