Biographical Note
DeWeese served as a lay member to the annual conference from his local church, 1920-67; as treasurer of the Indiana Conference of the Methodist Protestant Church (1929-39) and continued to serve the MPC as a member of the executive committee (1936+). From 1940-47, he was associate district lay leader for the Kokomo Conference of the MC, and from 1947-55 he served as lay leader. Elected North Indiana Conference lay leader in 1955, he served through 1964. He also served Elwood Grace UMC as church historian, writing a history in 1976 and completing the church records survey for the DePauw Archives in 1978.
