Historical Sketch
Indiana Asbury University rented quarters for its first few years, but had laid the cornerstone of what became known as The Edifice in 1837, just months after the founding of the University. Also known as Old Asbury, it was completed in 1840 and was the only college building for classes until the construction of East College in the 1870s. The Edifice burned February 10, 1879 and was restored and two wings added. It was renamed West College at that time.
