Historical Note
The Burkett Lectures at DePauw University were established in 1986 upon the retirement of Professor Howard Burkett. Their primary purpose is to honor the contributions Professor Burkett made to his students in Organic Chemistry, many of whom have gone on to noteworthy careers in science. The generous contributions of friends and former students provide an opportunity for a nationally known chemist to visit DePauw. As such, the Burkett Lectures are the highlight of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seminar program.
Past lecturers include: Barry Trost (1986), Nelson Leonard (1987), Leo Paquette (1988), Dale Boger (1989), John Cassady (1990), David Evans (1991), Bill Rough (1993), Eric Silverman (1994), Eric Block (1995), Stephen Byrn (1996), Ken Kirk (1997), Barbara Timmermann (1998), Greg Petsko (2000), Chaitan Khosla (2001), Tomas Hudlicky (2003), Melanie Sanford (2006), A.
