Historical Sketch
The Order of Artus, known also as Omicron Delta Gamma, honorary economics fraternity, came into being May 7, 1915, as a result of a merger of the Economics Society of the University of Wisconsin and the Undergraduate Society of Economics of Harvard University. In 1930 there were eight active chapters of the organization. With the installation at Beloit College, expansion of Artus ended except for the addition of DePauw University in 1927. Artus became an honorary society, membership being limited to those men who, as majors in the field of economics, have maintained a certain minimum standard both in that field and in their college work as a whole.
