Hsitorical Sketch
Foreseeing the need of a Methodist Church on the east side of Green River Road, the Evansville District Board of Missions and Church Extension purchased a lot at 5130 Lincoln Avenue on March 31, 1964. Reverend Paul Kern was appointed the minister of the then unorganized Aldersgate Methodist Church. On September 13th of that year a survey of all the homes in the far East Side was conducted by Robert Gray, Chairman, with the help of visitors from nine Methodist churches. The resulting congregation began meeting in a building on the University of Evansville Campus on September 20, 1964. The Ground Breaking Service for the Educational Wing, including a chapel, offices and ten classrooms, was held on November 14, 1965. After much work, the fist worship service was held in the new church in January of 1967.
