Historicall Sketch
The DePauw University Chemistry Department, although part of a liberal arts institution, provides a solid background in the four basic fields of chemistry: analytical, inorganic, organic and physical. Recommended study in these fields gives a chemistry major an excellent background for industry or for graduate school. Most seniors do an original research project. The chemistry program at DePauw has full accreditation by the American Chemical Society.
Many of the research papers included in this collection were done by students of Dr. Howard Burkett. Burkett was Professor of Chemistry from 1945-1981 before becoming Professor Emeritus.
