Collection Statement
This collection consists mainly of letters, clippings, Post diaries and journals. Also included are financial Latin Department Funds reports, a Latin alumni fund report, a speech by Post and a DPU President's file. Student reminiscences are also included in this collection.

Biographical Sketch
Dr. Post was born in Woodbury, New Jersey, November 7, 1851. He attended Dickinson College receiving his A.B. degree there in 1872. His A.M. degree came from the same institution in 1875, the Ph.D. degree in 1884, and the LL.D. degree in 1927. He also studied abroad for two years in the Universities of Berlin and Bonn. He had been ordained a Methodist minister in 1875 and from 1877-79 was pastor of the Hammonton, N.J., M.E. Church. At the end of this pastorate he became a member of the DePauw faculty. He came to DePauw in 1879 as full professor of Latin.
