Historical Note
The church was founded by Reverend John Stoner in 1862 under the name "Cedar Chapel Methodist Church." Through a closure, reopening, and relocation, it was later known as "Butler Chapel Methodist Protestant Church," or the Butler Center, in 1894. The Altarstar Methodist Church started its ministry in 1961 following the Butler Center's closing. The church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in 2023.
