Biographical Sketch
Miss Emilie Charles, prominent Marion, Ind., church leader, club woman, and loyal alumna of DePauw, died July 28, 1964. She was 73 years old and lived with her brother, Phillip S. Charles, class of 1908. A member of the Methodist Church in Marion, Miss Charles was district director of the Women's Society of Christian Service, a director and former president of the Woman's Department Club, and active in the Loyalty League, the Young Woman's Christian Assn., and the University Women. The daughter of the late William Charles '82, a prominent Marion attorney at the time of his death in 1931 and a former DePauw trustee, Miss Charles was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Phi Beta Kappa at DePauw.
