Biographical Note

Elmer L. Harvey was a Rector Scholar at DePauw University, graduating with a B.A. degree in 1933. From 1933-36, he attended the School of Theology at Boston University, where he received an M.S. degree in psychology and an S.T.B. For his work at Boston University, he received the Roswell R. Robinson Fellowship, which allowed him further study at New College, Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Scotland.

From 1937-50, he served the following churches in the Indiana Conference: Indianapolis Broadway (1937-38), Linton (1939-41), and Jeffersonville Wall Street (1942-49). In 1950, he transferred to the Northwest Indiana Conference where he served Greencastle Gobin Memorial, (1950-55). He served a year of internship in hospital administration at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and in 1957, after receiving his M.S. degree in hospital administration from Northwest University, he became an administrative assistant at Methodist Hospital until 1959, when he became the administrator of the Morgan County Hospital in Martinsville, IN.

In 1960, Harvey transferred to the Wisconsin Conference of the UMC. Except for missionary work in Vietnam (1970-72), he served that conference as a hospital and retirement home administrator until 1976 when he retired. Elmer L. Harvey and his wife, Kathryn, have two daughters, Susan and Sally.
