Historical Sketch
Attica Church (Fountain County, Ind.) was organized in 1890 by Rev. S. Stackhouse. The first frame church building was bought and moved to South Perry Street. Another frame church building was erected on the old church site in 1902 at a cost of $2,800. Extensive improvements were made on the building in 1924. In 1926 an old delapidated house was repaired and used for a large reorganized Sunday School and about one hundred were received into the church. In 1927 a basement was placed under the church and a good modern parsonage was built. In 1944 a large dwelling was purchased near the center of the city, the lower floor remodeled for church purposes and the upstairs made into an apartment for the minister at a cost of $16,000. This was dedicated on September 2, 1945. In 1960 the church was made a station and in 1967 was again placed with Stone Bluff. The membership in 1968 was 53.
