Scope and Contents
This collection includes Richmond, Virginia printed Confederate States of America banknotes ranging from 1861-1864. There are 16, $0.50 notes; 7, $1.00 notes; 5, $2.00 notes; 18, $5.00 notes; 19 $10.00 notes; 29, $20.00 notes; 8, $50.00 notes; and 1, $100.00 note. Each note has varying designs, issuers and redeemable obligations.

Historical Note
Confederate banknotes were issued in $0.50, $1.00, $2.00, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, $50.00, $100.00, $500.00, and $1,000.00 denominations. There were 72 different note types within seven series from 1861-1864.
