Historical Sketch
"Images of Indiana United Methodism, circa 1860-1980" is a project to index and copy photographs in the Archives of Indiana United Methodism as a way of making them more accessible to researchers. It is jointly sponsored by the Archives of DePauw and Indiana United Methodism, the North and South Indiana Conferences of the United Methodist Church, the Putnam County Historical Society, Main Street Greencastle, and the Heritage Preservation Society of Putnam County. The project is funded in part by a grant from the Indiana Humanities Council.
The exhibit shows examples of the collection and emphasizes the particular geographic section of Indiana in which it was presented. The photos are copies made from the originals in the collection using 4x5 inch copy negatives to insure high quality in the reproduction. Every attempt was made to duplicate the original in overall appearance, although color was not reproduced.
