Biographical Sketch

Edwin Earl Edwin Heimburger, a retired minister of the Northwest Indiana Conference, passed away at Lafayette, Indiana June 2, 1968. He was the son of Hiram E. and Almeda Showley Heimburger, born August 10, 1883 at Kewanna, Indiana. He studied at DePauw University and taught school five years before attending Garrett Biblical Institute. He was married twice. His first Marriage was to Iva Pearl Kumler in 1906 at Grass Creek, Indiana. To this union seven children were born: John Joseph, Wendell Earl, Wallace Mac, Rowena Pearl, Albert Edwin, Almeda Jane, and Alice Marie. Mrs. Iva Pearl Heimburger died April 23, 1941. He was united in marriage to Nettie Hines of Kewanna, Indiana in 1946. She died in 1960. Rev. Heimburger served a number of churches in The Northwest Indiana conference - Reynolds, Montmorenci, Otterbein, Thorntown, Zionsville, Liberty Ave., Terre Haute, Tabernacle, Frankfort, and congress Street, Lafayette. He also served Armstrong Chapel for some eleven years after he retired. He celebrated his 50th year in the ministry on October 9, 1966. Rev. Heimburger was a charter member of Octagon Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of High 12, Knights Temple, Exchange Club of Lafayette, Methodist Men, county Council of Churches and the Ministerial Association.
