Biographical Sketch

Cleveland Pendleton Hickman held various levels of teaching positions at DePauw from 1924-1961, beginning his full professorship in 1930. For 37 years he worked in the DePauw Department of Zoology, rising through academic ranks in the Depression years until he became head of the department in 1940. Officially he retired in 1961, but continued to teach until 1968. Frances Miller Hickman also taught Zoology at DePauw as a part-time professor. She graduated from DePauw in 1927 and married Zoology professor Cleveland P. Hickman in June that year.
