Historical Note
In 1839, Rev. Soloman Altimos was assigned the first minister. Another associated church called Bethel was founded and dedicated in 1882. Rev. D. J. Pontius was appointed to Huntington in 1882. Membership steadily increased until the election year of 1886, as the pastor then was a radical Republican, and membership rapidly increased again in 1887. The church was remodeled in 1905. The church celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1982. The church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in 2023.
