Biographical Sketch

Claude A. Mahoney was born in Warsaw, Indiana in 1903. Class of 1928 at DePauw University, Mahoney was known for his collumn in The DePauw regarding women's bloomers on campus. After graduation Mahoney moved to Washington D.C. where he was a reporter at the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Evening Star. In the early 1950s Mahoney became a broadcaster with WTOP Radio and in the 1960s the Mutual radio network. Mahoney returned to DePauw University to deliver two alumni reuinion speeches. Mahoney was a member of the speakers committee of the National Press Club, the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame, and Sigma Delta Chi. Mahoney passed away at age 91 in Onancock, Virginia.
