Monrovia Circuit (Morgan County, Ind.) records
Collection Statement
This collection includes two volumes containing records from all of the above mentioned churches and contain records of membership, baptism, marriages, and a list of ministers. The first volume covers all churches except Bethesda and Bethlehem from the years 1849-75. The second volume covers all the churches except Stilesville from the years 1837-93. Found in the volumes were several loose documents. These include subscription lists for Monrovia and Mount Olive (1865), a certificate of membership for a Miss Ora Hinshaw (1889), and newspaper articles concerning Poplar Grove Church.

Historical Sketch
In 1850 there were 14 Methodist churches in Morgan county. Some churches included in those numbers are the churches in the Monrovia Methodist Episcopal circuit. They include Bethesda, Bethlehem, Lake Valley, Monrovia, Mount Olive, Mount Zion, Poplar Grove and Stilesville.
