Scope and Contents

This collection includes Joint Archives Committee newsletters, agendas, meeting minutes, annual budgets, member lists and current and future projects to be undertaken by the Archives. It also contains the Statement of Understanding followed by the Indiana United Methodist Church and DePauw University concerning the joint archives. Copies of the DePauw University Board of Trustees meeting minutes that records the action of bringing the Archives into existence in 1951 is also included.

Administrative Note

Under the recommendation of President Wildman, the Committee was formed in 1950 before there was an Archives. The Joint Archives Committee is an advisory body to the Archives. As a whole the Committee reviews the policies and activities of the joint archives and advises the Archivist. The Committee is the principle means of coordinating the efforts of the United Methodist Church of Indiana and the efforts of DePauw University as they affect the Archives. The Committee meets at least one time a year. There are six representatives from DePauw University and six from the United Methodist Church. Sometimes there is an honorary member of the Committee in an ex officio capacity.
