North Indiana Conference (UMC) records

One large box of Restricted Material including parchments, cases concerning disciplinary proceedings, etc., carefully sealed, and not to be made available to any person or persons, group or groups, except the Secretary of the North Indiana Conference who is charged by the Discipline (1952, p. 1024) with its safekeeping; or his duly authorized agent bearing written permission and carrying the Official Seal of the Conference. (It was sealed until 1981, now open MC 111) * * * * * * * * The Secretary of the North Indiana Conference of the Methodist Church, L. E. Clayton, in cooperation with the Historical Society of the Conference, has placed in the Archives of DePauw University, Greencastle, IN historical records and materials covering the dates1840-1900.

It is understood and agreed that the Non-Restricted Material is deposited with the Archives of DePauw University for safekeeping, greater opportunity for research by the faculty, students, and other interested persons, and for such other purposes as may be deemed appropriate by the Archivist, except the fully Restricted Materials. All materials are to be considered as a loan rather than a gift and subject to withdrawal upon request of the Secretary of the North Indiana Conference. It is furthermore understood and agreed that this applies to such other material of the Conference as may have been placed previous to and any which may be placed subsequent to this date.
