Biographical Sketch
Edward Aquilla Robertson was born in Switzerland County, Indiana on June 7, 1863. He graduated from Moores Hill College in 1886 and was appointed professor of Greek and Latin in the University of Chattanooga, where he served for seven years. IN 1893 he resigned his professorship to become a student again, entering Chicago University, were he received his Masters degree, this same University later conferring upon him the honorary degree, Doctor of Divinity. In 1895 he was elected president of the George R. Smith College in Sedalia, Mo., which position he filled with honor for seven years. In 1895, while serving as college president, he was admitted to membership in the Indiana Conference. After seven years as college president he turned to the pastorate and, for thirty-six years, he served God and man as pastor of various charges in the Indiana Conference. In 1931 he retired from active pastorate and moved to Irvington, where he spent the later years of his life. In 1897 he married Anna Webb and they had a daughter, Orintha DeHesus, and a son, Paul Robertson. Edward A. Robertson died March 14, 1944.
