Biographical Sketch

Born July 17, 1898 in Greencastle, he was the son of Francis M. and Anna (Houck) Lyon. On Aug. 26, 1920, he married the former Glades Knoy.

Mr. Lyon graduated from DePauw Univ. in 1919 and from Indiana University Law School in 1921. He began the practice of law with his father, F.M. Lyon in 1921. Mr. Lyon was Putnam County prosecuting attorney, 1923-24 and resumed private practice with Marshall Abrams, Court Gillen and Rex Boyd as partners.

Mr. Lyon served as legal counsel for DePauw University for more than 50 years. He was a member and chairman of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions, 1946-68 and was a long-time director of First Citizens Bank and Trust Co.

A U.S. Navy Veteran, he was a member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, Putnam Co. and Indiana Bar Assoc. , American Legion, VFW, Kiwanis and Elks clubs, the James Whitcomb Riley Assoc., Windy Hill Country Club and the Columbia Club of Indianapolis.
