Historical Sketch

Organized in 1910, May Day festivities have included the traditional costumed dance around a flagpole, May Day Queen ceremonies, tennis matches on the East College lawn, folk dances, a lantern parade and theatrical entertainments. During the 1930's May Day Weekend was combined with the Mother's Day festivities, and continued in that form until recently.
