Biographical Sketch
Robert Guy McCutchan, Dean of the School of Music from 1911 until his retirement in 1937 and founder of the University Choir died May 14, 1958 at his home in Claremont, California at the age of 80. A graduate of Simpson College, Dr. McCutchan also held the Doctor of Music degree from that school and the Doctor of Sacred Music from Southern Methodist University. He served as a visiting lecturer in sacred music at Southern Music University, 1953-55, and later at Claremont College. Dr. McCutchan was a past president of both Pi Kappa Lambda, national music scholastic honorary, and the national Choir Directors Guild.
