Biographical Sketch
Felix T. McWhirter was born July 17, 1853 in Lynchburg, Tenn. He received his AB in 1873 and AM in 1876 from East Tennessee Wesleyan University and his PhD from DePauw in 1886. We was editor of the News of Athens, Tenn., mayor of Athens, studied at Johns Hopkins University, taught at DePauw University, first vice-president of the Indiana Children's Home-Finding Society, treasurer of the Prohibition Party, and founder and president of the People's State bank, Indianapolis. He is the brother of Luella Smith Hutchins, class of 1901, Ethyl Tyree Scoggins,1902 and Susan Ostrom, 1909.
