Raymond E. Mizer papers
Collection Statement
There are 2 boxes of index cards which serve as an inventory to the poems and other literary works written by Mizer between 1987 and 1993. It includes those works that were both accepted and rejected for publication. Following these, in alphabetical order, are actual publications containing poems by Mizer. There is also an index of poetry with the individual poems attached which was compiled by Prof. Mizer. Each poem is numbered, #1 through #947, and set up into 5 separate volumes. The next part of this collection contains some poems found loose which have been arranged alphabetically.
The collection also contains short stories, plays, speeches and papers written by Raymond E. Mizer. Along with these are also class teaching materials, correspondence, proposals for publications, biographical information and a few photographs of Mizer and his wife.

Biographical Sketch
Raymond E. Mizer was born September 29, 1918 in Frampton, Ohio. He married June Cottom on February 20, 1944. He received a bachelor's degree from Muskingum College in Ohio, a master's degree from Ohio State University in 1946 and his Ph.D. in English from Ohio State in 1952. He worked as a professor of English Literature at DePauw University from 1952 until his retirement in 1983. He taught at Grinnell College in Iowa from 1947 to 1950. He was principal at Jersey Elementary School from 1941 to 1942. He authored several books and papers, including "Midwest Mosaics" in 1991 and had 200+ poems published in various journals and magazines.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church and was active in the Putnam County Playhouse. Raymond E. Mizer passed away August 13, 1999.
