Biographical Sketch

John Edward Murr was born December 20, 1868 in Harrison County, near Corydon, adjacent to Thompson's Chapel. He was made a Local Preacher at Rockport on July 8, 1897. Admittance to the Conference came in the fall of 1898 at Princeton

Then followed an active ministry of 42 years. It embraced charges at Rome-Tobinsport, Grandview, Charlestown, Greenwood, College Corner, Greensburg, Milroy, Bayard Park-Evansville, Capital Avenue- Indianapolis, Princeton and Washington. Interspersed with these appointments was a term of detached service on behalf of Moores Hill College and the District Superintendency of the New Albany District.

He married Mabel Louise Connor of Rome, Indiana on Nov. 29, 1899. After her death, he married Minnie Eitelgeoge in 1952. Mr. Murr died Aug. 12, 1960 at his home in New Albany, IN, where he resided since retirement in 1940.
