Historical Sketch

The Indiana Methodist Children’s Home was organized in 1915 by Deaconess Angie Godwin. She operated a home for orphans, mostly babies, for nine years in Greencastle, Ind. Friends in the Methodist Church, District Superintendents and local pastors cooperated in a program of providing food, clothing, shelter, and tender loving care for very young children. The Methodist Church officially undertook the operation of the Home through the Northwest Indiana and South Indiana Conferences, and in 1924 moved it to 515 West Camp St. in Lebanon on land donated by citizens of Lebanon. Since then it has had continual growth.
