Historical Note
Greene County Chapel United Methodist Church was founded in 1839 in Solsberry, Greene County, Indiana. by a group of settlers from Maryland. The congregation first met in a log cabin, which featured a free burial ground. The first ministers were circuit riders, including Reverend John Tarkington, Reverend John Collins, Reverend James Fish, and more. A new church was built in 1870. The church disaffiliated from United Methodist Church in 2023, and, as of June 2024, continues operations as Greene County Chapel.
