Historical Note
Center United Methodist was founded in 1849. It is located in Marion County, Indiana. In 1849, Asbury Chapel and Dishers Chapel united to form "Center." The first minister, Rev. A.H. Shafer, was appointed in 1848. The first church building was erected in 1849 and the current building was erected in 1963. There were building renovations in 1970. The church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church, closing on July 1, 2023.
