Historical Sketch
Trinity United Methodist Church is located in downtown Kendallville, Indiana at the corners of State and Rush streets. Kendallville is located in Noble County, Ind. In 1854, at the annual conference, Bishop Matthew Simpson made Kendallville the head of the Lisbon circuit and appointed Asbury Andrew to the charge. A parsonage was erected in 1856. Soon after, ground was deeded to the Methodist Church by William Mitchell at the site of the present building and in 1858 a substantial frame church was erected. On March 8, 1872, the church building burned to the ground. A new, large brick structure was built, with the cornerstone being laid on August 10, 1873. The first sermon in the dedicatory services for the new church was preached on Christmas Day in 1874.
