Biographical Sketch

Class of 1875. From the 1920 Alumnal Record: "William David Parr, Minister, Deceased. A.B.; A.M., 1880; B.D. Drew Theological Seminary, 1878; D.D., Clark University, 1891; S.T.B., DePauw University, 1899. Born, November 10, 1855, in Big Springs, Ind. Teacher in Union High School (Friends), 1882-83; entered North Indiana Conference; appointments: Third Street, Fort Wayne; Westfield, Cambridge City; Waterloo; Elkhart; Grace Church, Kokomo; Wayne Street, Fort Wayne; presiding elder, six months, Kokomo District, 1901; assistant secretary, Board of Church Extensio, 1901-1905; Grace Church, Kokomo, 1896-1090; delegate to General Conferences of 1896, 1900, 1904, and 1908; member of Board of Control, Epworth League, 1896-1900; trustee of DePauw University, 1894-1918; delegate to Ecumenical Conference, London, 1901; one of the founders and trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Hospital of Indiana; president, Planhard Manufacturing Company; director Kokomo Steel and Wire Company, Kokomo Globe Stove & Range Company, and other concerns; lecturer and occasional contributer to church publications; general manager, church finances, debts, dedications, 1910-18; one of the incorporators and first President, Board of Councillors Nights of Holy Grail, 1912; trustee, Taylor University, 1913; associate trustee, Good Samaritan Hospital (Catholic); Park Commissioner, Kokomo, Ind., 1915; traveled in England, Wales, Scotland, France, Mexico and other countries. Married, January 11, 1883, Miss Cora Walton. Died, August 12, 1918."
